What we hold, and who may see it.

Institut Solène publishes what it holds rather than what it promises: what a household record contains, who can open it, and how it leaves the house again if the household asks.

What the household record holds

The household’s name, its country, its size band, whether family chapters are enabled, and the voice it asked to meet first. The steward’s name and email address. Then what the house writes for itself: the Generational Handbook and every version of it it has replaced, the practice marks and the weekly self-check, the chapter records as delivered, letter drafts, table plans, household briefs, the family year, and the remembrance calendar and guest book where a household keeps them.

Beside that sits the record of what was bought: the tier, the amount, the currency and the date, which is what opens the rooms and shows when the year runs to. Nothing else is asked for. Nothing beyond the household’s name is required, and a house that stops at the name is a working house.

Who can see it

The steward, and the members the steward invites by email. Nobody else. Each room is written so that a household’s record is returned only to that household, and the rule is enforced by the application rather than by good intentions. Records are never pooled, compared, or shown to another household. No member is published, ranked, or described to anyone outside the house.

An administrator of the institute can reach a record only where the service cannot be run otherwise, or where a fault has to be traced. Never in order to read a family’s handbook for interest.

What the voices read

When a household puts a question to one of the seven voices, that voice reads the household’s own handbook, chapters, practice record and letters, so that it can answer from what the house has stored rather than from a general idea of etiquette. It reads them in order to answer the question in front of it.

What a household writes is not used to build a profile of the family, is not sold, and is not used to train a model. A voice that cannot find an answer in the record says so rather than inventing one.

No advertising, and nothing traded

There is no advertising anywhere in the house, and no advertising cookie to consent to. No third-party analytics, no tracking pixels, no cross-site identifiers, no data broker, and no arrangement under which a household’s record is sold, rented, exchanged or handed over as a sample.

The institute has no partner whose interests are served by what a household writes.

Payments

Card details are entered on the payment provider’s own hosted checkout page and never reach this application. What is stored here is the fact of a purchase: the tier, the amount, the currency, the date and the reference needed to match a payment to a household.

A refund is made at the provider, to the method that paid. When a refund is available is set out on the terms page, and nothing is charged automatically at any time.

Export, and deletion

The household ledger exports everything the household holds, as a file the household keeps: the handbook and its history, the practice record, the chapters, the letters, the dates, the table plans and the guest book.

The same page deletes the household and everything in it, permanently, with no copy kept back and no soft deletion to be recovered later. A member who wants the record exported or deleted writes to the steward, who holds that right; where the steward cannot be reached, the institute acts on a written request from the holder of the account.

Children

No minor may hold an account, and no child’s name, photograph, school, measurement or birthday is collected anywhere in the house. Family chapters are written for a guardian to deliver in their own words, and the only thing the record carries is an age band the guardian chose.

Where a household chooses to write a child’s name into its own handbook or remembrance calendar, that name stays inside the household’s own record and is used for nothing else. It is never published, shared, or read by a voice for any purpose beyond the question put to it.

Asking, and changes to this page

A household that wants to know what is held about it, or why, may ask, and will be answered in writing.

This page changes only when the practice changes. A change that widens what is held is stated plainly rather than slipped in, and the date of the last review is kept with the page.

Last reviewed 28 October 2026. This page describes what the institute actually does, in the house’s own words.

In one paragraph, for the record

Institut Solène stores a household’s own record — its handbook, practice marks, chapters delivered and its year — and shows it to that household alone. There is no advertising, no third-party tracking and no sale of data. A household may export everything or delete it, and nothing is kept back.
